Your finger hovered over the green button on the screen of your phone, and you blinked back the tears the best you could. Should you really call him? Nobody else was here except for you, and the silence was going to make you explode. You hastily made a decision, pressed the button, and lifted the phone to your ear.

After a few dial tones, a cheerful voice picked up. “(name)-cchi, what’s up? It’s rare for you to call me!”

“Kise…” You’d started out by saying his name, but your voice broke at the end and you cursed how disgusting you sounded. “Kise…” Trying again wasn’t any good either, and your body burned in humiliation. Your vision became even more blurred.

Something in his tone changed as you tried not to let any of your choking gasps into the phone. “(name)-cchi? Are you crying?” There was a short pause before an urgent sentence left him and the line went dead: “I’ll be over right away. Wait a sec, okay?”

You lifted the phone away and scrubbed a sleeve across your face, even though it felt like something was going to explode. You’d never liked crying; it was such a sign of weakness, and telling other people for comfort was even worse. But… Kise was always telling you to depend on him with whatever it was he could do. Maybe, even if you were just going to cry the whole time, being with someone you trusted instead of just the silence sounded a lot better at the moment. You glanced up at the clock- almost eleven thirty. Who knew if he was still in the middle of a shoot? You cursed yourself for being selfish and almost thought about calling him again telling him it was okay, but you knew there wouldn’t be any point once he’d heard you like this. Deflating with a sigh, you threw your phone to the end of the couch and curled up in a tight ball.

You weren’t sure how long you stayed wallowing in your sadness for until the front door clicked and unhinged. It had been ten minutes, at least, but he’d actually come. You lifted your head to see a blonde-haired teen panting like a dog and rushing towards you curled on the couch. From the looks of it he hadn’t been too busy since he was just wearing his usual blazer, shirt, and tie. But still… he’d come.

When your eyes met, you shot him a glare knowing that your eyes must have been red already, but his own face looked hurt, almost as if he was sharing the pain that you felt. You opened your mouth to try to shoot a snarky insult or something along the lines of “Never mind, I’m fine, you can go home,” when Kise silently knelt down, leaned forward, and wrapped you tightly into his arms.

You weren’t sure exactly what had happened, but the tears rushed back and something inside you burst, and they spilled over and down your cheeks before you could stop them. In a matter of seconds you were a melting mess in his embrace, and you shook and sobbed into his blazer like a child.

One of his hands rose to softly pet your hair. “Did something happen?”

You couldn’t answer, but clung to his shirt tighter. He smelled nice, something sweet like oranges and cologne. He was so comforting. This boy was so special, so comforting. What was it about him? Was it his scent? This warmth? The way he held you and touched your hair? The quiet, soft tone of his voice? Whatever it was, it just made everything slip out more.

“It’s okay.” He began to hold you tighter and gently rock you back and forth. You knew he was coddling you, but you couldn’t help but take it all in just like the little girl he was treating you like. “It’s all okay now. I’m with you.” His lips just brushed against your ear, and you tried to swallow the lump in your throat to actually get some words out.

“I-I don’t wanna-” You were about to go on a huge rant about how nervous you were about your own self-pressure and anxiety about the future and how you didn’t want to face or do anything, but you just broke down even further as he hugged you close to him. Though your chest was shaking wildly, you were pressed so closely together that you could feel his heartbeat.

You weren’t even sure if he understood what you meant, but he ran his fingers through your hair and nodded. Your mental state was in shambles, any train of thought long broken down and tossed away. “Mm. I know. You’re so strong, (name)-cchi. You go through so much all the time, it must be so hard on you, isn’t it…?” Kise even sounded as pained as you at this point, and he kept rocking you gently. “It’s okay. You can cry as much as you want. I’m here for you.” His soft whispers flowed into your ears, and soon the sound of your cries was the only one in the room. Your voice sounded so nasally and gross; did it even belong to you at this point? Regardless, you basked in his warmth and soothing words for what seemed like an eternity.

You two stayed like that for the longest time until your sobs lessened to sniffles and small gasps. Through it all, he never let you go for a single second. After he noticed you’d stopped shaking as hard, he slowly lifted himself away, but kept his hands on your shoulders and his face close to yours. You hurriedly reached up to wipe your face on your already-soaked sweater sleeves and sniffed pathetically like an injured chick.

“Have you calmed down a little?” He gave you the smallest of smiles, amber eyes still as sympathetic as you’ve ever seen them. You nodded, not wanting to speak because of your voice. He started to pet your hair again. “You’re always so strong. I love that part of you too, (name)-cchi.” Kise moved his hands to cup your face gently and kissed the tip of your nose. “I really love you.” Heat rushed to your cheeks when he kissed them, and butterflies mixed with the confused feeling in your stomach. Unsure of what else to do, you tried to take deep, shuddering breaths and placed a hand over one of his own. Your shaking had been reduced to trembling now.

Still holding your face, he closed the distance between you and him and pushed his forehead against yours. “Next time, if you’re ever feeling sad, call me right away, okay? It’s not good for you to stay and cry all by yourself. If you’re hurt, I’ll come and hug and kiss you till you’re all better, just like this.”

Feeling the red pool in your face, you tilted your gaze down to the fists in your lap. “S-Sorry for interrupting your photo shoot.”

“Eh? What are you talking about? I don’t even have work this weekend, silly.” A light laugh reached your ears, and a small sigh of relief left you. So you weren’t cutting him off from modeling after all. “And besides, even if I did, I’d still run out of there to come see you. There’s no way I would stay working when you’re crying, (name)-cchi.”

You paused, and a slight tingling feeling, like something warm began to flutter in your chest. A swell of love pulled at your heart, and you gave him a shaky smile filled with nothing but gratitude. “Thank you, Kise.”

The blonde just shook his head with a grin as well. “Mm. I’m glad you decided to call me.” His grin brightened right away when he met your gaze. “Ah! You smiled!” He pressed his forehead to yours again before kissing the smile on your lips and pulling away with an affectionate shine to his eyes.

“A smile really is cutest on you.”
Eeeeeep, I've had this idea in mind for a while now and I finally managed to get it down. I always imagined Kise as the cuddly boyfriend when it came to crying scenarios, so this is how it played out and I'm pretty happy with it! > u <
